Get a head start on the day by eating breakfast early; you’ll be traveling north to the majestic Murchison Falls National Park! The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, though, is an exciting side trip to begin with. Embark on a walking safari in search of the endangered white rhinos while you get some fresh air and exercise. We continue our lovely trip after a delicious lunch at the ranch. Imagine yourself on a safari, with the anticipation rising as you make your way along winding roads through verdant landscapes to your camp beside the magnificent Nile River.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

African Safari in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda

An exciting game drive across the southern trails awaits you as you rise with the sun. You will be able to see the action develop as the savannah comes to life: lions and leopards hunting in the bright morning light.

Magnificent elephants and powerful buffalo herds are among the many animals that call Murchison Falls home. Marvel at elegant grazers like the oribi, the elusive bushbuck, and watch as lions pursue the abundant Uganda kob. The journey resumes after a satisfying camp meal.

Embark on a mesmerizing boat ride to the base of the falls from Paraa, situated on the northern bank. Envision a scene where a variety of colorful birds alight on the coast, crocodiles basking in the sun, and hundreds of hippos roam freely.

Subsequently, the magnificent show—the raging Nile River crashing 40 meters in a resounding waterfall—occurs. As a rejuvenating reward for your ascent, hike up to the falls and marvel at the rainbow that appears in the mist. Here we may see Murchison Falls in all its untamed splendor.

Day 4: Murchison Falls National Park

A new exciting day is on the horizon! First thing in the morning, head to Murchison Falls National Park to explore the northern game routes. Famous wildlife sightings along these paths include leopards, elegant antelopes, and magnificent elephants.

Take your time and enjoy the ride. Miniature plains creatures, such as playful patas monkeys, inquisitive bush pigs, and mischievous hyenas, are worth keeping a look out for.

Later today, relax at your safari campsite. Relax in the savannah heat, listen to the tales of your fellow explorers, and take it all in. Remember, tomorrow we have a beautiful adventure planned to the verdant Kibale Forest.

Day 5: Drive Murchison – Kibale Forest

Get ready for an exciting journey – the road to Kibale is waiting for you after breakfast! Murchison Falls will be leaving around 7:30 in the morning, so be sure to keep a watch out. Along the park’s perimeter, you may see animals basking in the warm rays of the sun.

The drive is visually appealing in and of itself. You will pass through verdant farmlands, expansive cattle ranches, and verdant tea plantations on your way to Fort Portal. Take in the stunning view of the distant Rwenzori mountains from this vantage point.

Where are you going? On the verge of Kibale National Park sits a picturesque home amid the woods. Think yourself how the rainforest sounds and the frequent visits of playful monkeys might make you feel. Relax; you’ve arrived at your base camp for the next thrilling episode!

Day 6: Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale National Park, Uganda | Crater Safari Lodge

Join the rainforest in its ascent! Your unique chimpanzee trekking excursion in Kibale Forest will begin at 7:30 in the morning, so make sure to have breakfast early and get to the visitor center by 7:30. An incredible variety of primates, including more than 1,500 chimpanzees, call this lush rainforest home. It is often referred to as the primate capital of Africa.

Stay vigilant as you continue your search for the chimpanzees deeper into the jungle. The unusual L’Hoest’s monkey or a colobus monkey’s flash of crimson can be visible to you. You might be lucky enough to hear some monkeys babooning or blue monkeys chattering.

Your adrenaline will be pumping, though, as you follow your knowledgeable guide closer to a group of habituated chimpanzees. Their voices reverberate through the jungle, and then, all of a sudden, they materialize! This hike, which gives visitors a rare opportunity to see their culture up close, can last anywhere from a few hours to an entire day.

Things get even more amazing after lunch. Go on a guided nature walk and lose yourself in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Exotic birds (more than 138 species!) and lively primates call this thriving sanctuary home. Boardwalks lead you deep into the sanctuary. Just sit back, take it all in, and be enchanted by this ecosystem.

Day 7: Drive Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park

You still have a ways to go! From Kibale, you can reach the Queen Elizabeth National Park core by a beautiful three- to four-hour journey. Make your way to Mweya jetty, and get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime lunchtime adventure: a boat ride on the world-famous Kazinga Channel.

Envision yourself effortlessly gliding across the ocean while the untamed beauty of Africa envelops you. Along the verdant banks, you can see hippos yawning widely, elephants congregating by the water’s edge, crocodiles sunbathing, and buffalo foraging for grass. Witness the wonders of nature up close and personal.

Queen Elizabeth National Park will be your abode for the upcoming four days. Spectacular savannah plains and verdant Maramagambo forests are only two of the many habitats found in this world-renowned park. Get ready for an animal lover’s paradise with exciting encounters with lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, playful baboons, the iconic Uganda kob, and the elusive gigantic hog.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

Prepare yourself for the exhilarating adventure of a traditional African safari! Experience the beauty of Uganda’s most famous national park on dawn and dusk wildlife drives.

Spectacular lions and elusive leopards go on hunts along the Kasenyi tracks first thing in the morning. The plains are inhabited by large herds of buffalo and elephants, and the show is heightened by the presence of elegant antelopes such as topi, bushbuck, and the famous Uganda kob. Be on the lookout for the mysterious massive forest hog!

In the evening, when the sun goes down, go on a spectacular boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. Hippos squawk with joy, elephants congregate at the water’s edge, and crocodiles sun themselves on the banks. As the sun sets, you never know when a lion or leopard may sneak down for a drink. The beauty and energy of Africa are on full display here.

Day 9: Ishasha Sector

An exciting adventure begins today! Start your day with a game drive as the sun rises, exploring the park’s southern regions in search of the Ishasha Sector. Grasslands give way to the breathtaking Kyambura Gorge, a verdant oasis tucked away in the middle of the savannah. See the scenery change as you go. Dive into this colorful river valley, a sanctuary for rare butterflies and birds, if you feel the need for adventure.

Carry on to your safari camp nestled in the Ishasha Sector, where you will spend the next two nights. Lions that can climb trees are a famous sight in this area. If you look closely enough at the towering fig trees, you could see these magnificent beings relaxing in the limbs. Massive swine of the forest prowl the countryside, while herds of buffalo flaunt the breathtaking auburn coats that trace their lineage back to the rainforest. The graceful antelopes, such as the topi, bushbuck, and the famous Uganda kob, enrich the diverse array of animals found here.

Day 10: Ishasha Sector

Exploring Uganda’s National Parks is an exciting adventure that never ends! Get out on the Ishasha sector game drive when the sun comes up. See the savannah come to life in the early light as you look for its renowned inhabitants, such a pride of lions lazily swinging on fig tree branches. Wildlife abounds in the Ishasha, including warthogs, waterbuck, the elusive leopard, and the world-famous Ugandan kob. If you want to see the extremely rare gigantic forest hog, you have to be very alert.

The afternoon is at your leisure to relax at your safari camp and take in the breathtaking scenery.

A fresh adventure is waiting for you tomorrow! Climb the towering trees of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with the help of an experienced guide. You may get a close look at the rainforest’s marvels on this trip from Buhoma to the Nkuringo region.

Day 11: Buhoma-Nkuringo Forest Walking Trail

At approximately 9:30 in the morning, following a filling breakfast and a briefing with your guide, you will set out on your jungle excursion. The old jungle is shrouded in mystery as the early mist lingers in the air. You will go on a journey inside the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest accompanied by a guide and two rangers. Just bring a daypack with your food, camera, and hiking supplies. About four or five hours of breathtaking scenery await you on the trail.

Embrace the lush, verdant jungle as you stroll. A visual and auditory delight, with towering trees, colorful flowers, and the melodic sound of chirping. Amazing animals, such as chimpanzees, l’Hoest’s monkeys, and even stately elephants, may cross your path if you’re not careful. Fluttering among the treetops are exotic birds such as the Shelley’s crimson-wing and African green broadbill, and colorful butterflies twirl in the sunshine.

In the heart of the forest, make your way! With the longer route, you can expect to spend six hours meandering around the Kashasha River and its many ridges. If you’re looking for an exciting journey in a different kind of landscape, try the shorter Ivy River Trail.

Coming out of the rainforest, you’ll be treated to a spectacular view that will round off your tour. Get back in your driver’s car and make your way to your charming forest cottage, which sits on a hill with a view of the massive Bwindi rainforest. As you drift off to sleep, let the sounds of the jungle remind you of all the delights that day.

Day 12: Optional Activities

Take it easy on your safari today and soak in the tranquility of your surroundings. Get away to your jungle hut, a tranquil sanctuary in the middle of the jungle, and relax.

Recharge in your own unique way. Relax with a good book, learn the ins and outs of the local cuisine in a cooking class, or take a stroll around the grounds and meet some nice people.

While taking in the stunning scenery of the surrounding volcanoes, a traditional dugout canoe ride across Lake Mutanda adds an element of adventure to your vacation.

Take a guided tour through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and let yourself be enchanted by its natural beauty. Rather than concentrating on the gorillas, you can explore the myriad other treasures that the jungle has to offer on either the captivating Circular Trail or the intriguing Batwa Forest Trail.

Indulge in a sundowner picnic on a neighboring hill as the day comes to a close. Bask in the enchanting sunset light as you take in the breathtaking view of undulating countryside.

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda – What Happens…

The journey of a lifetime begins today! First thing in the morning, have a good breakfast and collect all of your hiking gear, including a lunch bag, water, and sturdy footwear. Your driver will make sure you get to the meeting spot before 7:30 in the morning. Gorilla trekking adventures start at the visitor center at about 8:00 in the morning, rain or shine.

In the thick of the jungle, you will go on an exciting gorilla expedition. Searching for the majestic mountain gorillas may take hours amidst muddy slopes and dense forest. It will all be worth it the second you see these majestic, docile creatures. If they approach, just follow your guide’s directions; otherwise, maintain a polite distance. Those breathtaking moments you spent watching them will remain in your heart always.

I suggest getting in shape before going on this gorilla safari in Africa so you can enjoy it to the fullest. Although hiking with gorillas is a physically taxing experience, the payoff is well worth it. Around 2:00 pm, you should be prepared to emerge from the bush and replenish with your packed lunch. Enjoy the ride back while keeping an eye out for rare birds; nevertheless, your guide’s main concern is ensuring your safe return.

Day 14: Drive Bwindi – Lake Mburo

Following a relaxing breakfast, your incredible journey into the top national park in Uganda will commence! Embark on a picturesque tour over the rolling hills of western Uganda with your driver as you bid farewell to the misty jungle. The scenery is something out of a fairy tale: verdant hills that make you think of Switzerland, lively cities like Kabale and Mbarara, and meandering roads that lead you more into the Pearl of Africa.

Take a break for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Centre, an interesting place where you can learn about the local culture and history.

At last, you’ve reached your delightful safari lodge, a sanctuary of serenity tucked away in the breathtaking landscape surrounding Mburo. Enjoy the remainder of the evening at your leisure, taking in the one-of-a-kind ambiance. Picture this: you’re sipping a sundowner while listening to the sounds of an African night, taking a relaxing swim, or meandering through the gardens.

Day 15: Explore Lake Mburo National Park
