Day 1: Ruhengeri, Rwanda
Your private guide will meet you when you arrive in Kigali, help you with your luggage, and take you through the countryside to Ruhengeri (also known as Musanze), the entry point to Volcanoes National Park.

This morning, leave early for a briefing at the main office of Volcanoes National Park. Then set out on your shared journey through the bamboo area and up into the mountains covered with forest. Depending on where the gorilla families are located in the park, the trip may take two to five hours. Once you’ve located them, you’ll have one priceless hour to spend up and personal with these fascinating primates. As you observe them interacting, the guide will teach you about their behavior.
Day 3: Volcanoes National Park
Today, come back early to the park to go on a small-group search for indigenous golden monkeys. It is simpler to reach these rare monkeys, who dwell in armies of about 80 individuals in the bamboo forests at the foot of the mountains. Watch them for a while as they jump between the nearby trees as engage in amusing antics. Join your personal guide for a trip to a neighboring village in the afternoon.
