Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Tracking

Complete Guide to Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Today is a wonderful day because it is your chance to get up close and personal with the enormous mountain gorillas, including the silverbacks, juveniles, and newborns with black backs. One of the most remarkable experiences is coming face to face with these kind-looking apes, and you will never be able to adequately describe your feelings. It is an experience you will never forget.

Before you enter the jungle to search for a specific mountain gorilla family, your guide will bring you to the briefing location where a gorilla tracking briefing is held. Depending on where the gorillas nested the night before, tracing gorillas might take anything from two hours to a full day. Once you’ve found them, spend an hour with them, paying attention to your guide’s directions, watching how they feed and interact with one another. Always remember to abide by the gorilla tracking guidelines.

Before returning to your camp for dinner and the night, you will have your packed lunch away from the gorillas, visit the park offices for a brief ceremony, and then enjoy your packed lunch.
