Day by Day Akagera vs Volcanoes vs Nyungwe Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park, game drive and the night game drive
The meeting will take place in your Kigali hotel. The journey to Akagera National Park, the smallest of Rwanda’s three national parks and the country’s sole wildlife park, will begin after a hearty breakfast in Kigali. After you check into your lodge, have lunch, and relax for a bit, you’ll go on a game drive in the afternoon, during which you can expect to see a variety of animals, including elephants, gazelles, antelopes, buffalo, giraffes, impalas, leopards, zebras, bush babies, lions, rhinos, topis, and baboons. The drive will conclude at 6 o’clock in the evening. After that, return to the lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 2: Morning boat tour and do a half game drive afterwards
We will set out on a two-hour boat ride at 9 in the morning, and then return to the lodge for lunch. We will begin lining up for another half-game drive at 1:30 PM and finish it at 6 PM.
Accommodation: Akagera game lodge

Day 3: Full game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey tracking
We will leave the park at 6 in the morning, have breakfast, and then travel directly to Kigali after completing a full game drive from the southern entrance to the northern exit. Our next stop will be to Musanze, Ruhengeri, to do monkey tracking with golden monkeys after lunch in Kigali. On this particular day, we will only be traveling across the nation!
Day 4: Golden monkey tracking
You are expected to make your way to the park headquarters by 8:00 am sharp in the morning for a briefing and to be assigned to a Golden Monkey Group. After that, you’ll start tracking in the woods. As long as you follow the park’s rules, you can spend up to an hour with the monkeys and even film them if you want. You will return to the lodge for lunch and refreshments after an hour. We choose the Golden Monkeys because they live in the same habitat as the Mountain Gorillas in the world-famous Volcanoes National Park, which you can see on your tracking adventures. After that, it’s on to Nyungwe National Park in the country’s southwestern corner, where you can see chimpanzees and go on a canopy walk tour.
Accommodation: Nyungwe top view hill hotel
Meals: breakfast
Day 5: The canopy walk way experience in Nyungwe rainforest
The Nyungwe forest is teeming with thirteen distinct primate species, and the canopy walk bridge provides a fantastic opportunity to observe some of these creatures as they forage among the treetops. Part one of this bridge is a short stroll, and part two is a longer one. Both sections offer excellent opportunities for birdwatching and monkey sightings in the Nyungwe forest. Meet in Uwinka, which is thirty minutes from the hotel, for the canopy at ten in the morning.
Accommodation: Nyungwe top view hill hotel
Meals: breakfast
Day 6: Chimpanzees tracking in Nyungwe Forest
You will travel on an early morning chimpanzee tracking adventure in the bush after breakfast, in search of man’s closest buddy. Follow the Forest Ranger as he or she shows you the way through the forest’s many paths. After about three to five hours of tracking, you’ll have a hearty lunch at your lodge before making the scenic trip back to Kigali this afternoon. Return to your accommodation.
