Day 1 – 5 Wilderness Usawa Grumeti

All of the Serengeti’s animal species coexist peacefully. This remarkable ecology runs in perfect harmony because of this equilibrium, or “usawa” in Kiswahili.

The most spectacular natural event in Africa takes place in northern Tanzania. Grazing, mating, and birthing in the Serengeti plains, two million migratory animals (including zebras, eland, and Thomson’s gazelle) move in unison with the rains. After dividing the herds, prides of lions hunted down zebras and wildebeests. Crocodiles hunt the courageous, the ones who risk crossing rivers first, while cheetahs pounce on gazelles. There is no other place on Earth where you may observe predator-prey dynamics on such a grand scale.

Away from the madding hordes, the Wilderness Usawa Serengeti’s temporary camps follow the rain to the places where the herds congregate. With plenty of spots available, as near to the activity as possible in plush safari tents that don’t ruin the grasslands as much as possible.

Located on the outskirts of Volcanoes National Park—a top spot for seeing mountain gorillas—Wilderness Bisate Reserve provides a breathtaking panorama of six towering, dormant volcanoes covered in lush rainforest.

This camp is currently, without a doubt, the most magnificent way to watch the gorillas; it is the sister of the famous Wilderness Bisate.
