Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge | Luxury Hotel Bwindi Forest
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge | Luxury Hotel Bwindi Forest. Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is unquestionably a fitting name for this cozy lodge, which is located 2,000 meters above sea level and offers the kind of breathtaking views that will make you halt in your tracks. Eight stone cottages overlook the swooping forests and soaring treetops of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is home to almost 330 mountain gorillas—roughly half of the species’ remaining population. And the main attraction here—aside from the scenery—are the gorillas. Treks to the spectacular Nkuringo family start just a few meters from the main area, giving you plenty of time to prepare bacon and eggs the Ugandan way before your once-in-a-lifetime adventure. That truly is luxury.
The Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
Consider an English country house in the most remote environment while imagining Clouds’ elegance, coziness, and warmth. Huge, squishy sofas and a crackling fire can be found in the main room, which also has high ceilings and light-colored decor. Depending on the weather, meals are either served indoors or outside and are both delectable and filling. A cup of tea in hand, sit back and take in the views of the misty mountain ranges from the charming gardens, veranda, or even from your recliner.
The rooms
The eight cottages are attractive stone constructions scattered across the gardens that blend perfectly with the rest of the lodge. Each features a bedroom (the family cottages have two), an ensuite bathroom, and a fireplace that is a nice addition to the living space. Large mattresses covered in cozy duvets, overstuffed and wonderfully comfortable armchairs, private patios, and floor to ceiling windows ensure that you never miss the view. The ultimate luxury, too? A personal butler to attend to all of your needs
We appreciate hearing that the lodge is actively involved in the neighborhood through a development fund, to which guests contribute just by choosing to stay.
Activities
- Cultural
- Birding
- Bush Walks
- The gorilla hiking theme of Clouds focuses on the amiable Nkuringo family of hairy apes. The hikes are undoubtedly among of the most difficult of all the gorilla trekking sites, with steep slopes and a lot of jungle ferns to negotiate. Trekking begins nearly immediately outside the door. But if you’re in good shape and enjoy a challenge, the feeling at the top of the climb is well worth the effort. Additionally, there are tours for bird-watching and photography as well as visits to villages and forests.
