A Uganda gorilla permit costs $800 for foreign non-residents, granting one hour with a gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with a pricier $1,500 permit available for a four-hour habituation experience; permits sell out fast, so book months in advance via a registered tour operator Kabira Gorilla Safaris or the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Permits are essential for access and must be booked ahead, requiring passport details for booking and verification, with funds supporting conservation.

What is a Uganda gorilla permit? Here is what a permit means to you. A Gorilla Permit is a legal document issued by the Uganda Wildlife, allowing you to be with a Gorilla Family. UWA issues the Permits, and they are primarily marketed through the Association of Uganda Tour Operators.

There are presently 152 Permits available each day. The minimum age of a participant is 15. The Permit is issued not for a particular Gorilla Group, but a Bwindi Impenetrable Forest sector such as Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo.  The Nyakagezi Group in Mgahinga Gorilla Park is different since it is the only group there. Permits are issued for a fixed date. That date is hard to change, and it needs approval.

How much is a gorilla trekking permit in Uganda – The Gorilla trekking permit now costs $700 for foreign nonresidents, $600 for foreign residents of East African countries (Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania), and 250,000 UGX for East African citizens through the year. There are no low season discounts anymore or any other discounts so do not be deceived or misled.

Besides the normal gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, in January 2014, the Uganda wildlife Authority introduced four-hour gorilla trekking.

Gorilla trekking is hard work, but the rewards are immense. This trekking experience is not available in other gorilla areas of the Virunga Conservation area, inclusive of the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda.
